Northern Cyprus Guzelyurt

Today this location is primarily involved in the production of citrus fruit, and at one time in Cyprus history, was one of the most important cultural regions of Cyprus. Back in the days of coalmines dating back to the Roman times, there was a railroad that ran from Guzelyurt to Famagusta. The snow-capped mountains of the Troodos mountain range and the Morfu Bay sets Guzelyurt apart as one of the most desired and breathtaking locations in Northern Cyprus. Guzelyurt was mainly a Turkish town in its origin, is a great place for shopping and houses a very large Municipal garden centre where locally grown produce is inexpensive.

Northern Cyprus Camlibel

This is a small mainly Turkish rural village that is placed in the North Cyprus Kyrenia Mountains and heads towards Kyrenia from the west. Located here is a large Army base with only a few shops.

Northern Cyprus Ilgaz

Retreating from everyday life is what you will find when escaping to Ilgaz. With one restaurant strategically placed high in the Kyrenia Mountains, one cannot help but relax and escape from a regular routine peacefully. This sprawling village is a mixed community with few facilities, but the drive up the mountain is worth the beautiful scenery of the surrounding beaches.

Northern Cyprus Baspinar

Named after the spring that continually flows, Baspinar is set high above Lapta. The drive up the Kyrenia Mountains is not without the fabulous scenery of this Northern Cyprus village.

Northern Cyprus Karsiyaka

A picturesque village that is near to the sea in order to enjoy the fabulous views of the Kyrenia Mountain Range, Karsiyka has beaches, shops, and restaurants nearby. Fish restaurants are conveniently close to the seashore, and being reasonably close to all amenities, Karsiyaka beckons many to come and experience her to the fullest.

Northern Cyprus Lapta

At one time Lapta was one of the four kingdoms of Cyprus. Being one of the larger villages west of Kyrenia, it enjoys the luxury of fresh water springs. In past times, Northern Cyprus Lapta had a large silk industry bringing the main source of income to those villagers. Lapta has since been recognized for its many local arts and crafts including pottery, silk, and cutlery. Lapta’s wealth of timber has progressed to the development of another craft including chest making. These are the feature of many homes in Cyprus and are painted mostly black. Lapta is a mixture of Turkish and Europeans with plenty of bars and restaurants.

Northern Cyprus Alsancak

This small village lies six miles west of Kyrenia and has easy access to the North Cyprus beaches and the many restaurants, shops and bars. The Edremit and Karmi villages are just a short turn up the mountains from Alsancak.

Northern Cyprus Edremit

This village centre is on the road from Karaoglanoglu to Karmi. Edremit is set in the Kyrenia Mountains and is overlooked by the St Hilarion castle, which allows a fantastic view over the Mediterranean. In this village you will find a luxury holiday centre as well as scattered shops and restaurants.

Northern Cyprus Karmi/Karaman

Situated in the hills west of Kyrenia, this smaller village is settled just below the St Hilarion Castle in Northern Cyprus. It boasts a typical village church containing white washed walls and a little belfry. Karmi is mainly a European community with a few restaurants and a village shop.

Northern Cyprus Zeytinlik

Zeytin is the Turkish name for olive and Zeytinlik is appropriately named since it is set directly in the olive groves of North Cyprus and host to the famous olive festival. There is a diverse mixture of cultures and spawns many hotels, shops and restaurants. Kyrenia is only a few minutes drive away.

North Cyprus Kyrenia/Girne

Some time ago, villagers of Kyrenia lived within the walls in small houses crowded together with a beautiful old harbour and the Crusader Castle Kyrenia. Today there are many restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and museums that add to the effect of an exciting cosmopolitan historic town. Most of the government offices are placed here.

Northern Cyprus Dogankoy

This small village is nestled between North Cyprus Kyrenia and Bellapais with a clear mixture of Turkish and Europeans. There are all the facilities needed close by.

Northern Cyprus Karakum

The word Karakum means ‘black sand’ and although it does house a small sandy bay with a beach, there is in fact no black sand. It is on the road just east of Northern Cyprus Kyrenia, and has a mixture of cultures inhabiting there.

North Cyprus Bellapais

This village still retains a quiet sense of serenity with its magnificent Abbey that dates back to the 12th century. This Abbey is now used for musical events while the restaurants and bars are set in the unique surroundings. A nice mixture of cultures can be found here in North Cyprus Bellapais.

Northern Cyprus Ozankoy

This location is named after the poet Ozan. The backdrop of the Kyrenia Mountains looking up to the Bellapais Abbey, Ozankoy makes a very popular spot for many with its beautiful views to the North Cyprus beaches and Kyrenia close by. A few village shops with restaurants and bars are perfect for the mixture of cultures that reside here.

Northern Cyprus Catalkoy

The meaning of this location is ‘forked village’. It extends from the foothills of the Kyrenia Mountains down to the Mediterranean Sea. It is further east of North Cyprus Kyrenia and is very popular for European residents alike with its many bars, restaurants and shops.

Northern Cyprus Esentepe

This village has a new golf course and a breathtaking coastal line and is very quickly becoming a popular spot in North Cyprus. There are a few shops and restaurants and is today becoming more of a European community.

Northern Cyprus Famagusta

This location was dominated by its city walls built by the Lusignan rulers and is the main port of North Cyprus Island. Within it, there is so many amenities to discover and contains all the facilities of a busy seaport.

Northern Cyprus Salamis

This is an ancient city dating back over 3,000 years and is within close distance to North Cyprus Famagusta. Salamis was destroyed by earthquakes during the period of 332 to 342 A.D.

Northern Cyprus Bogaz

This village represents the gateway to the Northern Cyprus Karpaz and the Andreas Monastery. This location is becoming more popular with the European community and has a number of amenities such as hotels and restaurants near by.
