North Cyprus Property

The area of Northern Cyprus is comprised of approximately 3,355 square miles. Although it has been said that the island of Cyprus has sunk beneath the sea on more than one occasion and lies in an earthquake prone region, Northern Cyprus inhabitants can relax knowing that their residence sees less tectonic action as compared with its neighbours in Greece and Turkey. It is a breathtaking landscape combining a generous mix of olive and citrus groves with rocky mountainsides that are sporadically interrupted with small clusters of villages. North Cyprus Property has yet to be consumed by mass tourist developments that have been known to take over many other overseas destinations.

Long hot summers and short but mild wet winters make Northern Cyprus one of the healthiest places in the world to live. There is approximately 330 days of sunshine for Cypriots to enjoy annually with the sea temperature rarely dropping below 63 degrees Fahrenheit.

The official language of Northern Cyprus is Turkish, although English is widely regarded as a second language and is used throughout the island. Many road signs are in English and it is quite easy to converse with Cypriots while you are there if Turkish is not your native tongue.

In Northern Cyprus the cost of living is significantly lower than that of the UK or in most of Europe. With this, the quality of life is increasingly better since personal finances are not such a strain for families and makes this Mediterranean Island appealing to families of all ages.

Although the general consensus of North Cyprus Property is that a Mediterranean island will be the ultimate tropical getaway for either holidays or for retirement, one has to be more prepared for a long-term stay on the island. There is rarely a day that goes by without the fabulous sunshine on this lovely island, but in the winter months, the temperature can surprise you. Although the sun is out and the sea is calm, with the wind and rain that lash out at Northern Cyprus, you will want to make sure you have packed a good pair of socks and a suitably warm jacket.

The grand Kyrenia castle of St Hilarion that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea to the Turkish coast was Walt Disney’s inspiration for the famous castle in the story of Snow White. It was named after a hermit who fled from the Holy Land following the Arab invasion. On his 3rd crusade, Richard the Lion heart stopped over and claimed this spectacular structure and has had a colourful history since that time. There are numerous tours or companies that provide paragliding straight from St Hilarion for those who seek a more adventurous visit.
Besparmak is a very distinctly shaped mountain of the North Cyprus Mountain Range with its five peaks resembling the fingers of a hand. This mountain lies 10 miles east of Kyrenia and overlooks the main road to Famagusta.
